While the
Super Bowl betting odds such as the spread and the total continue to hold steady and attract a lot of action, there are a couple of
Super Bowl lines that don’t get enough play.
With the
Super Bowl XLIII spread sitting at
7 points in favor of the
Pittsburgh Steelers, and the total (or over/under) currently holding steady at
46.5 points, it’s time to look at the
team total points. The Pittsburgh Steelers, according to Super Bowl
oddsmakers and bettors, are projected to score
27 points. Meanwhile, the
Arizona Cardinals are listed at
20 points.
It’s difficult to predict what the Cardinals defense is capable of doing against the Steelers. Pittsburgh’s running game has played well as of late, setting up the deep passing game more effectively. However, Arizona has created 11 turnovers in three playoff games, something that can certainly stymie a good offensive drive in a hurry.
Meanwhile, you could argue that there is considerable value in the Cardinals line of 20 points. Averaging over 26 points a game in the regular season, the Cardinals were able to rack up 32 points versus a good Eagles defense in the
NFC championship game. However, most of the damage was done in the first half of the contest. If the Steelers can do what Philadelphia did in the second half two weeks ago, it could be a long day for Arizona’s offense.
In terms of the variables, that should not matter. At this point, there are no projections for any weather issues. As well, both teams seem to be relatively healthy coming into this title game. Both
Hines Ward and
Anquan Boldin are expected to play for their respective teams.
