As Thursday's NFL Draft looms closer, teams had better know what they want from the Kentucky derby odds like spectacle. More importantly, they better get what they need.
The Vikings close brush with greatness last season, as well as their current roster heading into next season would lead many sportsbook cappers to pick the team as a hot bet to repeat their success. Indeed, the Vikings could do just that and more. However, if they're going to repeat their successes and cast off their failures, they need to take care of one important thing: They need a quarterback.
While having Brett Favre is awesome - and no one is disputing the awesomeness, it is not an ideal solution to the problem of their lack of confidence in Sage Rosenfels and Tavaris Jackson. Many fans of sports betting are pointing to Colt McCoy as the obvious pick for Minnesota. McCoy won 45 games during his time at the University of Texas - that's more than any other quarterback in NCAA history. "Colt", as he's known, is also the 2008 Walter Camp Award winner and was the 2008 Heisman Trophy runner up.
The Vikings also need Running Backs, and, assuming he isn't already off the board, they would be lucky to snag Ryan Matthews. Formerly of Fresno State, Mathews could make a particularly deadly impact to the Vikings backfield.
Finally on the list is another cornerback. Former CB from Rutgers' University, Devin McCourty could fill that bill. McCourty is extremely athletic and effective in his position. He recorded 74 tackles for Rutgers last year.
The NFL Draft kicks off Thursday night.
