Could The Super Bowl Be Perfect?

E-mail Print PDF

Since the preseason, everyone has been talking about how the New England Patriots will likely be repeating as Super Bowl Champions. After 12 weeks of action, maybe it’s the two perfect teams that the Patriots have lost to that will be Super Bowl contestants No. 1 and No. 2.

In the AFC, it’s hard to argue with what the Indianapolis Colts have done this season. They are a perfect 11-0 and they are the most clutch team in the NFL. They have now won 20 straight regular season games and in their last five contests, they have been trailing entering the fourth quarter in each of them. They are the first team in NFL history to be trailing in those contests and win them all.

In the NFC, no team has been more impressive than the New Orleans Saints. Their offense is even more lethal than what it was last year as several wide receivers like Lance Moore, Devery Henderson and Robert Meachem have grown up. Even tight end Jeremy Shockey is a big time contributor and running back Pierre Thomas is having a great season out of the backfield. But the difference with this Saints team is the fact that their defense is rolling right now. The Saints defense held the Patriots to just 17 points and has been making big plays all season long.

Both the Saints and the Colts should have home field advantage throughout the playoffs, and both should be representing their conference in the Super Bowl. No other teams have been more impressive to date.
